To The Rescue
Loan Officer Saves Client from Brink of Despair
Darren Przybyla’s young daughter is growing up fast. She’s outgrown the baby toys and needs room to toddle around and a backyard to play in. Darren and his wife decided it was time to buy a house. They started looking and found a great community with homes under construction. They made an offer and got a deal, buying a home at almost $30,000 below its resale value. With their first home purchase, Darren’s family was taking an important step in building a strong financial future.
There are many hoops to jump through before a home loan closes. Darren and his wife got the ball rolling by getting prequalified for their loan. Everything looked good – the builder had a preferred lender, who assured Darren the home loan was no problem. But as the closing clock continued to tick, Darren had a hard time getting his questions answered by the lender.
Imagine Darren’s frustration? He has to close the loan by December 30th. By the time Darren found out the loan wouldn’t close with the builder’s lender, he had two weeks to close the loan or he’d start paying a daily penalty of 1% each day (about $2,000), all the while negotiating around the Christmas holidays.
Enter Ken McCormick. Darren called around and received a referral to Ken from his cousin. There’s only one problem – Ken’s on vacation for the holidays.
“He did everything he could to make this deal go through. He was making calls on his cell phone from the golf greens,” Darren said.
Even Darren’s real estate agent was impressed.
“Ken was really on top of it. He pulled the client out of a bad situation. Without his help, they would have lost the home,” Dana Rasch said.
To Ken, there’s no greater satisfaction than helping a client get into a home, even if it was a last minute call.
Normally, Ken attends the closing to offer help and field any questions. Since he couldn’t be there for the closing he made sure to drop off a house warming gift when he got back from vacation.
“He was very classy, I appreciate that he took the time to get a gift. It’s the little touch that shows he follows through on his promises,” Darren said.
Darren and his wife are settling into their new home; the baby is exploring the back yard, and all is right with the world. Would Darren do it all over again? You bet, but this time his first step is to work with Ken from the beginning – exactly what he recommends to all his friends and family.
